Acorns is run by a Voluntary Management Committee and is a ‘Not for Profit’ organisation. We are registered for up to 24 children aged under 8 per session and have a capacity for 48 children in total. This number increases to 72 during our Easter and Summer clubs. We operate from “Little Oaks" at Walton Oak School.  The club is open to any child who is aged between 4 and 11.

We are registered with Ofsted on the Early Years Register. Ofsted inspect us on a regular basis and not more than every 4 years. We are thrilled to announce that most recently we were inspected in September 2016 and were awarded Outstanding. The inspection found that 'Staff's interactions with children are extraordinarily positive and of a high quality.' and 'Children take part in a wide range of outdoor activities that really interest them.' For the full Ofsted report please click here.

You are most welcome to visit any of the clubs whenever they are open.  No appointment is necessary. Mrs Buckley is the Manager and has overall responsibility for Acorns.

Other staff working on a rota basis will be Mrs Old, Mrs Dinsdale, Mrs Davies, Miss Cox, Miss Rouves, Ms Tutton and Mrs Read.  The staff child ratio is 1:8 for children aged 8 and under and 1:10 for older children.  In total, we have a team of 15 playworkers. For after school sessions, the younger children will be collected personally from class and the older children will make their own way there.

We also run a very successful two week Summer Club, usually during the first two weeks of the summer break, and a four or five day Easter Club, which is also extremely popular. We have also introduced half term clubs which will take place in the October and February half terms and will run Monday - Thursday in both weeks. Sessions run from 10am-4pm and cost £15.00. We also offer early and late wrap around sessions which cost £4.00 each and run from 8.30am -10am or 4pm - 5.30pm. Children will need to bring 'nut free' packed lunches and clearly named, weather dependant clothing. Please see our 'book a place' page for information on how to book.
